Improvisation for Breakthrough Results – December 6, 2017 – in Midtown Manhattan

Improvisation for Breakthrough Results Workshop

December 6, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

This program exists to bring you greater mastery and skill in environments that throw you in to uncertainty at any given moment.

“Prepare to be Unprepared” is what Amy Poehler (SNL, Second City, Parks and Recreation) said she learned to do as improviser.

When we explore how you stay in the moment and to think on your feet, you feel in greater control of your situation.

In your business tool kit you have experience, strategy, a solid education, and well-laid plans. Yet, sooner or later, you begin to realize that the act of leadership becomes a delicate balance that requires advanced improvisational skills.  This is where your experience and training may fall short.

With improvisational technique:

  • Think on your feet in fast paced or uncomfortable situations and feel in control
  • Deal with uncertainty and maintain stability
  • Go deeper into relationships because connection comes more naturally
  • Enjoy taking risks more readily
  • Deal with ambiguity
  • Feel more confident in everyday or high pressure interactions
  • Find your authentic presence
  • Take the creative space to more effectively solve problems
  • Create positive energy
  • Find personal resilience

Learn how in this 3-hour session.   In this introductory session, you will do what improvisers do to prepare, perform, and succeed when the stakes are high.  I’ll take you through improvisation exercises and activities that help you tap in to your intuition and inner knowing.

Here you become more open and direct in your communication.  It‘s a novel experience with new ways to have you be more successful in your business.  The work is fast-paced and hey, it’s not around a conference table!

“This is the first time I have ever been able to speak openly and honestly in any setting ever.”  A banker at a recent workshop.

Martha Gelnaw – Facilitator, Coach and Improviser

I came from a corporate leadership background and  as well I trained In theatre and performance with Paul Sills and Mike Nichols, two originators of Improvisation.

Can you imagine learning Physics, Bio or Chem through a lecture only approach?  Of course not. It was in the Lab that you learned how it all works.  My work is the Lab. It’s a learn-by-doing experiential approach to leadership. And it works.
